The Kitchener Slow Streets pilot program is a temporary change to Duke Street East (Pandora to Cedar) and Cameron Street North (King to Weber) and is intended to create slower and safer neighbourhood streets that are more comfortable for walking, rolling and biking.

While streets designated as “slow streets” will not be fully closed to vehicle traffic, they will be closed to through traffic from June 2020 through October 30, 2020.

To ensure the safety of our neighbours during this time, the City of Kitchener has developed clear guidelines for the program, which will be outlined through signage and by City Ambassadors who will be on location to provide information about the program to residents.

These guidelines are in place to ensure safer neighbourhood streets, encouraging all users to:

· Practice physical distancing by remaining at least 6 feet away from others.

· Use the space to move, and not gather.

· Stay alert as cars and bikes still have the right away.

· Drive slowly and watch for people using the street.

Through this program, we look forward to enjoying our slower and safer neighbourhood streets with you whether your walking, rolling or biking!
